We certainly feel a sense of pride that comes with making our shoes in the same way and in the same place for nearly 100 years. But we aren’t just keeping up a tradition for tradition’s sake. If there were a better method of making premium shoes up to our exacting standards we’d do it. Until someone improves on our way of doing things, we are sticking with what got us here.

Wolky
Wolky’s history goes back to the early 80s. Already back then the Diks shoe stores sold a fair amount of comfort shoes. However, at the time these shoes were hardly fashionable. This prompted the company’s founder, Kees Diks to develop a sandals line himself. After the introduction of the Wolky Nature line, the Wolky City line followed in 1989 with its fashionable and colourful sandals with a revolutionary insole consisting of cork and memory foam. After this success, Wolky introduced several shoe lines with removable insoles. While environmental issues become more and more important, Wolky is one of the leading shoe-companies in using environmental friendly materials. Munro Munro & Company, Inc.
Munro Munro & Company, Inc., was established in 1972 as the successor to New Hampshire-based Connors & Hoffmann Footwear Company’s southern division, consisting of three shoe manufacturing plants, all in Arkansas. As manager of the southern division, Don Munro had set up Lake Catherine Footwear in Hot Springs in 1960. In 1967 he added Addison Shoe Company in Wynne, and in 1967 built Mount Ida Footwear in Mount Ida. These three plants formed the nucleus of Munro & Company. They produced men’s and women’s leather shoes and boots for the major national retailers. A manufacturing plant in Clarksville, AR was acquired in 1986.
